Conference Focus Vojvodina: Views on the Future of Citizens' Participation will be held on Thursday October 4th 2007 in Hotel Park (address: Novosadskog sajma 35) in Novi Sad, the capital of the Autonomous Region of Vojvodina in the Republic of Serbia. The conference will give special attention to three year  cooperation between four Vojvodina municipalities and their twinning partners in the Netherlands.

In close cooperation with its international partners the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG-International) and IKV Pax Christi of the Netherlands, the Citizens Pact for Southeast Europe in Novi Sad has prepared a conference on the experiences of four municipalities in Vojvodina and their Dutch twinning partners in developing a local administration and municipal services that adequately address the needs of their citizens and that allow for citizens participation. These twinning activities have been organized in the framework of the project Focus Vojvodina, financed by the Netherlands ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The conference is open to all Vojvodina Serbia municipalities and all are strongly invited to share their experiences, lessons learnt and views on the future of citizens participation at this celebration of the finishing of the project Focus Vojvodina. Also guests and speakers from abroad e.g. the Netherlands and Croatia - will be present to discuss their views on the further development of citizens participation,  the process of European integration and the role of international municipal cooperation.

Participants to the conference will be delegations of the Dutch municipalities (Leidschendam-Voorburg, Vlist, Zwolle and Steenwijkerland), delegations of the Vojvodina (municipalities Indjija, Subotica, Bac and Bela Crkva), local governments and NGO representatives, local government representatives from Croatia, representatives of VNG International and IKV Pax Christi from Utrecht, representatives of the Citizens Pact for SEE, - experts, media.

Some expected speakers of this session are: H.E. R.J.P.M. van Dartel, Ambassador of the Royal Netherlands Embassy, Belgrade and Mr. Bojan Pajtic, President of the Executive Council of Vojvodina, a representative of the Serbian European Integration Office.
